Information Communication Technologies (ICT)
The school has continued to invest strongly in the purchase of new devices for classrooms. Sets of iPads have been introduced into every double teaching space from Prep to Year Two, and teachers are able to customise the apps to suit the curriculum as needed. In the upper school, laptops have been introduced into every classroom from Year Three to Year Six, as the focus shifts to a more research and publishing based ICT approach.
Wireless networks (WIFI) have now been installed across the whole school site, enabling quick and instant internet access from every classroom. This allows us greater flexibility in teaching and learning, and connects us to new opportunities. The next stage will involve boosting the bandwidth as our device numbers grow.
Every classroom now also boasts an interactive projector or interactive Smart board. This allows teachers to display visually engaging, interactive learning objects and digital information. Students and teachers can interact with these boards via fingers or remote pens, to engage with the task or communicate their ideas.
Cyber safety
Cyber safety is an important aspect to keep in mind, particularly for the upper school as students conduct more tasks in an online environment. Students from Year 3 – 6 have been taught about cyber safety at school and it is important the key points are reinforced at home, particularly about social media, cyber bullying and protection of personal information. ICTs can add value to learning across all areas of the curriculum. We ask you support and encourage your students with the use of these technologies whenever possible.
